Parent Participation
Program by Jeri Stickney An
effective parent participation program for parents of students with
disabilities contains six important elements for effective implementation. These six elements are parent needs
assessment, parent education and information, parent involvement, outcomes of
the program, evaluation of the program, and follow up activities. By implementing these elements, educators can
assist parents in their roles as members of the IEP team, and help parents
address the needs of their children with disabilities. In addition, including these elements will
help foster school-home communication which will in turn help maximize student success? References Correa, Vivian Ivonne; Jones, Hazel
